My name is Lee Gil-ho, and I am the chairperson of the Ninth Gunpo City Council for the first half (2022.7.1 ~ 2024.6.30).

All nine members of the ninth city council are striving to create a council that approaches the citizens with a humble attitude, listens to their voices, and works with sincerity and honesty.

During the year since opening, this council has deliberated on and processed a total of 211 bills, and 39 ordinances and regulations were enacted or revised according to the proposals of the councilors, resulting in improving the quality of life of the citizens.

Among these, I would like to mention the Gunpo City Ordinance on Support for the Stability and Welfare of Low-Income and Socially Vulnerable Groups and the Gunpo City Ordinance on Support for Meals for Children and Socially Vulnerable Groups. These ordinances show how we hope the city will become a kinder place that looks after those in need and helps them out.

This council has also voluntarily revised ordinances to limit the privileges of the councilors and strengthen their moral spirit and self-control. In addition, the Gunpo City Ordinance on the Payment of Expenses for Council Activities and the Salary of the Councilors has been revised to give the councilors obligations and responsibilities consistent with their privileges.

These regulations have affected the common sense and behavior of the councilors so that they will continue to improve their behaviors and remember how they were chosen by the citizens.

The Gunpo City Council formed three standing committees (Council Operation Committee, Administration and Welfare Committee, and Industry and Construction Committee) early in 2023. To strengthen the expertise of the council, the members of the committees are allowed to monitor the policies of the executive branch and propose alternatives more clearly.

The Ninth Gunpo City Council will do its best to resolve large pending issues in the region, such as the integrated development of Geumjeong Station, the quick application of the Special Act on the Improvement and Support of the Old Planned City (1st Special Act for New Towns), and balanced development of the new and old urban districts with the redevelopment of the old urban district.

In addition, the council will work with officials of Gunpo City to develop the old Yuhan Company site and renovate the old industrial complex in order to attract medium and large companies.

Gunpo is our city, and it is up to its citizens to decide the direction to move forward. The Gunpo City Council will always strive to reflect the wishes of the citizens accurately. Please remember that the Gunpo City Council is always by your side.
