Gunpo City Council

This is the journey Gunpo City Council has shared with its people.

  • The 1st Council
    The 1st Council (1991. 4. 15.~1995. 6. 30.)

    At first, there were nine city council members, but since December 26, 1994, there have been a total of 10 active council members. Due to the amendment of the Local Autonomy Act, the term of office was extended by 15 days.

  • The 2nd Council
    The 2nd Council (1995. 7. 1.~1998. 6. 30.)

    20 members were elected based on the number of people in each district, but their terms were adjusted to three years in accordance with the bylaws of the Local Autonomy Act.

  • The 3rd Council
    The 3rd Council (1998. 7. 1.~2002. 6. 30.)

    11 members were elected. However, the member elected from the Jaegung-dong constituency resigned in the middle on July 3, 2001, so the number of members who served their whole four-year terms is 10

  • The 4th Council
    The 4th Council (2002. 7. 1.~2006. 6. 30.)

    The constituency was adjusted and 10 council members were elected. After the opening on July 3, 2002, the members devoted themselves to parliamentary activities for balanced urban development and promotion of citizens’ welfare.

  • The 5th Council
    The 5th Council (2006. 7. 1.~2010. 6. 30.)

    Under the Local Autonomy Act, eight district councilors were elected from four constituencies and one additional councilor through proportional representation to make a total of nine district councilors to carry out parliamentary activities.

  • The 6th Council
    The 6th Council (2014. 7. 1.~2018. 6. 30.)

    In the 5th local elections, eight local councilors (two from each constituency) were elected and one additional councilor through proportional representation to have a total number of nine active members.

  • The 8th Council
    The 7th Council (2014. 7. 1.~2018. 6. 30.)

    Nine city council members held 21 provisional meetings and 8 regular meetings from the 202nd to the 230th, and were diligent in checking and monitoring the activities of the executive branch.

  • The 8th Council
    The 8th Council (2018. 7. 1.~2022. 6. 30.)

    During their four-year term, the nine lawmakers enacted and revised 100 ordinances and regulations (an average of 2.17 cases per month).
